Bardouly is a Place of Great Beauty and Inspiration: The Perfect Place for Writing

We encounter in the Dordogne the memory of its most illustrious literary figures:  Michel de Montaigne, Saint-Exupery, Talleyrand, Arnaut Daniel, Bertran de Born, Etienne de La Boetie, Brantome, Fenelon, Maine de Biron, Eugene Le Roy, Andre Maurois, Biron and Josephine Baker.  More recently, Henry Miller spent much time writing in the region as does William Boyd and Martin Walker.

All writers love to read and Bardouly is a reader’s paradise.  We have a library of rare first editions by French and English authors as well as over 1000 volumes of classic and modern fiction, biography, history, literary criticism and other work for you to peruse at your leisure.

We are delighted to host our first writing retreat in May 2018.

Please contact us to discuss how we can help you design and manage a writing workshop at the property.
